Regional Language Quality Manager
The area: Translation Support in the Asia Pacific Region
The CLS Asia Pacific language operations team, based in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore, consists of in-house translators and copywriters. Translating mainly from English into Chinese (ZHsi, ZHhk, ZHtw) or from Chinese into English, the team primarily handles specialized documents for the financial, legal, and insurance industries. Our linguists interact on a daily basis with our Project Management Team and our Language Operations Manager. They work to tight deadlines and closely collaborate with our large network of external translators and copywriters.
The role: Regional Language Quality Manager
As the Regional Language Quality Manager (based in either Singapore, Hong Kong, or Shanghai), you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality and consistency of our linguistic services in the Asia Pacific region. You will report to the CLS APAC CEO and work in conjunction with the Language Operations Manager, our in-house translation team, and our Project Management team on a variety of quality issues and initiatives. Furthermore, you will join members of our sales team in client calls and meetings to better understand our clients’ needs and expectations.
Responsibilities
Hands-on translation as the Lead Translator for multiple clients, building an understanding of CLS processes and roles
QA and spot-checking of translation quality across clients
Identify, develop and implement new initiatives and processes for enhancing quality
Personalized coaching of translators, both in-house and external
In charge of systematic follow-up on client feedback
Draft style guides, glossaries and other reference material
Requirements
University Degree in Translation (Chinese/English) or Linguistics or
Proven track record in the translation industry (freelance / in-house)
Demonstrated familiarity with the financial markets and financial terminology (China focus)
Native speaker of English
Near-native speaker of Putonghua, oral and written
Teaching and/or management experience with good interpersonal and communications skills
Experience with SDL Trados a plus
Passion for proper English grammar, syntax, and style
