We seek suitable candidates to apply for the following position:

Claims Manager

To ensure proactive and effective claims management of individual portfolios and claims, proper setting of reserves and prompt payment of claims, effective financial reporting to relevant departments of individual losses and accounts and to support the balance scorecard of business unit by contributing upon financial added values (saving).

Requirements:
Engineering Degree and/or insurance qualifications related insurance qualification or Certificate holder of related field

Fellowship of ANZIIF and/ or suitable Tertiary qualification and/or engineering / property claims handling experience

Minimum of 7 years claims management experience in insurance / reinsurance industry
Understanding of general legal principles with experience in interpreting legal and claims reports and identifying legal or contractual anomalies in wordings

Understanding and knowledge of insurance and reinsurance contracts

Workflow management experience and strong claims administration and reporting and presentation experience

Excellent command of written and spoken English and market-specific language skills

Thorough knowledge of relevant IT tools and programs

Responsibilities:
Timely management of Non-Life claims including identification of reserving deficiencies in clients\’ claims figures and anomalies in policy/ treaty wordings and claims settlements

Analyse claims portfolios, set reserves for claims and make recommendation for claims above authority
Recommend amendments to policy and/or treaty wordings to minimise exposure to re-occurrence of \’ambiguous\’ claims in collaboration with Underwriting and Client Management

Accurate and timely processing of claims information and prepare major claims reports exceeding the assigned mandate to management

Ensure the balance of Month End / Quarter End claims reports and reports for IBNER & IBNR discussion for valuation processes

On complex Legal Liability claims, discuss the matter with the Head of Claims / Underwriting where there is ambiguity / uncertainty on either liability or quantum issues

Produce solutions and to co-operate with the IT Department in IT system relative to claims, treaty wordings and accounts to ensure relevant statistics / reports are produced

Perform internal controls effectively, efficiently and economically, within the other accountabilities of this position

Build up and manage relationships with the loss adjusters, lawyers, experts and clients from a claims perspective

Analyse claims portfolios and make recommendations to support Underwriting on forming underwriting strategy / planning

Partnering individual client claims unit by administering claims and settlements strategies

Assist / enhance clients on property and engineering claims handling – know-how knowledge transfer

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
